FarmWorks produce is grown locally, harvested and sold to the Ottawa area businesses, restaurants, and residents through CSA farm membership shares.
What are CSA farms?
CSA farmers receive a set fee (from you – the consumer) prior to the start of the growing season. In return, you receive shares (produce) in the farm’s bounty.
The consumer supports the local farmer. The farmer supports the local economy, causing a cascade effect for the local community. This approach also helps the environment! The more local products that are purchased, the fewer products are needed to be shipped to the community, thus reducing harmful emissions from transport carriers.
What are CSA farm membership shares?
CSA farm membership shares close the gap between growers and eaters by providing consumers (eaters) with weekly shares of the harvest. The shares (produce) span over an 18-week period between June and October and provides a diversity of vegetables and herbs in season.
