Food Works is a paid training program that provides at-risk and street involved youth, ages 16-30, a safe place to develop cooking skills and certifications that are geared towards working in the hospitality industry. Participants will build their resumes by completing certificates such as: Safe Food Handling, Smart Serve, and WHIMIS. Food Works consists of 6 weeks of in-house training and 10 weeks of a subsidized work placement, and will employ 4 youth per rotation. Throughout the in-house training and the work placement all participants will have access to social supports which can assist them with: addictions, mental health, identification, housing, and more.
