Housing Works

Housing Works is a program that allows at-risk or homeless youth age 16 and up to work with a housing worker in order to find and maintain safe and affordable housing. Many at-risk or homeless youth cannot save enough money for first and last month’s rent, furniture, move-in costs and other incidental expenses during the first few months of their employment. In addition, the youth find it difficult to work and save money for a 3-6 month period while living in a shelter or on the streets.  Therefore, Housing Works provides up to 10 youth per year with a matching subsidy based on what they save for their housing expenses.  The program also provides an opportunity to receive assistance in finding and maintaining a job, as well as allowing participants to become empowered and take ownership of their life choices.
