The purpose of the Job Action Project is to provide employment preparation, skills training, work experience (through job placement), support and monitoring for 40 youth facing (and already experiencing) multiple barriers to employment. The project will focus on the retail, hospitality, and tourism sectors which have been identified as having a labour shortage along with strong growth forecasts for the City of Ottawa.
At risk and vulnerable youth are forced to compete with young people that do not have the same challenges and barriers. At risk youth often lack self-esteem and confidence. This project will address the employment barriers that are preventing at risk, vulnerable and homeless youth from finding and maintain employment.
