JobsFirst is an 18-week employment program which serves youth ages 16 to 29 who self-identify or have been diagnosed with a disability. JobsFirst provides youth with individualized employment support (s) based on their career path.

Following the 6 weeks of in-house training, youth will transition into a 12 week work placement in the community whilst continuing to be supported by the employment support staff.

The primary focus of the JobsFirst program is to prepare participants to retain jobs in the community. Many individuals face a variety of barriers to gaining or retaining employment such as lack of stable, skills, work experience, mental health issues, substance use and difficulties with the ability to resolve conflict.

JobsFirst aims to provide participants with the requisite tools and resources to overcome obstacles through skill development, employment preparation and certifications workshops. In addition, employment staff provide support (s) to employers and participants in the workplace to help address any employment related issues. Moreover, OCH ensures that all participants have a social support worker with whom they can meet on an as-needed basis to tackle issues pertaining to life skills or general social supports.
