What we want to talk about is what he meant to Operation Come Home. Here is what OCH’s executive director Elspeth McKay had to say about David:

“David Scott served on the Operation Come Home (OCH) Board of Directors for more than 10 years. During that time David was an integral part of all that we do at OCH. David was concerned about the well-being of the youth in which we serve, the staff that worked for OCH and making a significant contribution to our Board of Directors.

David was passionate about advocating for people that were often overlooked by society, such as the vulnerable youth OCH serves. David wrote numerous letters to politicians, government, not-for profits and foundations requesting support for Operation Come Home. David was a strong believer in “hands on” work and education that would provide youth the skills they needed to move on with their life goals.

David had a keen interest in raising awareness about OCH, attended many of our fundraisers, supported us financially and remained a part of OCH right up until his recent passing. David was close to our Board Chair, Dana, and always wanted to ensure that she remained on the Board as she too is a strong advocate and voice for the underprivileged.

David was one-of-a-kind in that he based his decisions on principles that he adhered to even when it was not the popular view. David provided the Executive Director, Elspeth, with a great deal of excellent advice, guidance, support and resources. David spent hundreds of hours volunteering for Operation Come Home including Chairing fundraising committees, encouraging colleagues and friends to attend Operation Come Home events and providing contacts to further the charity’s vision and mission. We will miss David forever and we will never forget all that he did as a volunteer, Board member and friend of Operation Come Home.”
