Volunteer Week spotlight: Alieu Gaye, Community Minded

Alieu was a community development worker in his home country before coming to Canada, and he has continued showing that community-minded spirit at Operation Come Home. OCH met him during a 24 Hours Of Homelessness event, and he stuck around to volunteer at the drop-in. These are his words:

“The reason why I like volunteering is because I enjoy giving back to the community. It’s about trying to engage myself in the community and learn. As we learn, we can give back even more to the community. Operation Come Home (OCH) engages young people and as a community development worker, I  believe engaging young people is key to the sustainable development of a country/ I’m inspired bu the programs OCH runs as they are helping youth who are homeless and supporting those who might be “at-risk”. Volunteering at OCH is a way to contribute to society and grow. OCH has given me the platform to actually contribute towards the success of the organization.”

Thank you Alieu, for everything you do to make Ottawa a better place!
