A Job Tailored Just For Him

When Aakrist came to the Youth Workforce Initiative (YWI) program, he was a young man with a dream. A dream, and some skills to get to that dream. What he didn’t have was a path, and that’s what he found at YWI.

While there, Aakrist learned resume building and cover letter writing. He was taught interview techniques and skills he could put on that new resume. He learned CPR and First Aid from Jason Groulx at St. John Ambulance Ottawa.

When the summer session of YWI was over, all the youth who participated went on to find jobs. Aakrist may be the only one who found his dream job, thanks to Ramy at Stephano Menswear. In order to place youth in employment, we always need the help of employers. And Stephano Menswear stepped up.

Aakrist’s dream has been to design his own clothing line. Now he is one step closer to making that dream a reality, working in customer service and sales at Stephano. The skills he acquired in making his own clothes for some time have served him well, as he helps Ramy in measuring and doing alterations. He even assists in the process for creating custom suits.

Having seen the effort Aakrsit put in at YWI, and the drive he has to succeed, we have no doubt that one day he will be hiring youth to help him out at his own clothing store. Until then, you can pop by and have him alter your suit at Stephano Menswear. You know, before he becomes a big name in his own right.
